Life in the Vile house…

We’ve been having issues with our computer lately so I haven’t been able to download any recent pictures of Ethan. But I thought I could update you on the happenings in our household lately. I guess you could say lots of things have been going on… we’ve been casually looking for houses (it’s that time of year when the market is fresh), looking for something a little bigger since whenever #2 decides to come along we’ll be pretty tight where we’re at (or so we think). Anyway, we found a house not to far from where we’re at… a farm house (built in the 1900′s). To make a long story short, we put an offer in and it was accepted (but we made it based on an approved inspection)…. the inspection came back and showed a lot more wrong with the house than we thought so we offered them lower based on that… they rejected the offer. In the meantime we had put our house on the market and it sold in 3 days! Luckily we put in the contract on our house that we would only sell if our offer on the other house went through. So thank God we put that in there otherwise we would have been without a house! Needless to say all this happened within one week!!! And what a week that was. We learned a lot through the whole process and are now back on the search. We found another house last week that is, again, close to where we are now, just a little newer… built in 2002. We put an offer in on it last night… we’ll find out what’s going to happen with this one on Friday.

On another note… Ethan is doing great! Getting so big and is really starting to grow into a little toddler. He loves to play with Bailey (although, not sure how crazy Bailey is about it all). He teases her with toys by chasing her around the house laughing the whole time. It’s so fun to hear his laugh and I think Bailey is starting to like the attention from him. She’s really good with him. She plays back when she’s in the mood or runs away if she’s tired of him. :) I found a play-gym at a garage sale the other day… it has a slide and climbing wall… he’s starting to get the hang of the slide. Although it’s been so hot lately we havn’t been outside much to play with it.

I think he said his first word the other day… maybe. It was either “dog” or “ball”… not sure. :) mostly he just points and says “eh”. He is signing “Please”, “more”, “thank you” and “all done”. It’s fun to teach him new signs… he seems to pick up on them a lot quicker now.

Well guess that’s all for now. I’ll post some pictures when I get the chance.

Samuel has a new room!!  Well, it’s a shared room, but at least he has a corner now!

I’m not sure our youngest, Samuel, is going to make it to his first birthday. I think our daughter is trying to get rid of him. I think she loves him, she talks to him and about him often. But she has also done things to make us think otherwise. When he is in his swing she likes to push it beyond what it was meant to go. She likes to poke his eyes. She threw his favorite pacifier into the garbage disposal (unknown to Erin until she ran it). She has picked him up and dropped him repeatedly (and tried to pick him up many other times). She has taken his blanket, covered his face with it and laid on him. She has put a marble, a pretzel, a piece of pizza, and other things into his mouth. I’m just not sure if Samuel is going to make it because his older sister is out to get him.

This is Ethan’s way of saying this room is off limits for Alayna. Now every door in our house, even Alayna’s own room, has this sign. Even the outside doors. It’s Alayna’s catch 22 - can’t go in, can’t go out.

We went to the Midwest Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati a couple weeks ago.  It was crowded!! Besides the fact that they scheduled the conference to begin at the exact same time as opening day for the Cincinnati Reds (~10,000 convention goers + ~40,000 baseball fans = no available parking + lots of frustration!) it was a nice trip.  Samuel enjoyed the big bed, Erin and I took the floor. ;)
