NO!

Published November 2, 2006 by Erin

That’s all I feel like I say these days!  “No, Ethan, don’t do that, No, Ethan, don’t touch that, No, Ethan, put that back”  Ugh!  I HATE saying NO!!!!  Is this normal or am I a bad mom and don’t know how to get my kid to obey.  I know most of you reading this are around my little Ethan a lot and are saying… “yeah right, the kid is an angel!”  And most of the time he is, but man, this week he is trying my paitence.  He gives me that look … the look that says “can I get away with this?  what will she do if I do this one more time”.  It’s like he touches and gets into everything that’s NOT his toys.  I know he’s just getting to that age but come on, there’s gotta be a better way than following him around and telling him no when he touches or does something he’s not supposed to do.  Maybe I just need better ideas of what to keep him occupied with during the day.  Any moms reading this???  HELP!!!!

And it doesn’t help that I say “No” to my dog all day too!  :(

Ugh… I don’t know if I’ll be able to handle two.

All Mom’s go thru this, yours is just delayed because Ethan has been such a compliant kid. :O) You are doing just fine as a Mom, it does take the “p” word though, somedays hard to come by!
Maybe trying to find the positive that he is doing during the day and reenforcing it would help. Give him some speical jobs around the house that you can praise him for. Praising him will go a long way, which is what i’m sure you are doing. Don’t be so hard on yourself!
Plus each new stage they go thru is a testing on their part too, they are trying new things out all the time.
Just keep loving him like you do, that will speak volumes to his little heart! Sorry for the book………
    love
    Mom

Samuel has a new room!!  Well, it’s a shared room, but at least he has a corner now!

I’m not sure our youngest, Samuel, is going to make it to his first birthday. I think our daughter is trying to get rid of him. I think she loves him, she talks to him and about him often. But she has also done things to make us think otherwise. When he is in his swing she likes to push it beyond what it was meant to go. She likes to poke his eyes. She threw his favorite pacifier into the garbage disposal (unknown to Erin until she ran it). She has picked him up and dropped him repeatedly (and tried to pick him up many other times). She has taken his blanket, covered his face with it and laid on him. She has put a marble, a pretzel, a piece of pizza, and other things into his mouth. I’m just not sure if Samuel is going to make it because his older sister is out to get him.

This is Ethan’s way of saying this room is off limits for Alayna. Now every door in our house, even Alayna’s own room, has this sign. Even the outside doors. It’s Alayna’s catch 22 - can’t go in, can’t go out.

We went to the Midwest Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati a couple weeks ago.  It was crowded!! Besides the fact that they scheduled the conference to begin at the exact same time as opening day for the Cincinnati Reds (~10,000 convention goers + ~40,000 baseball fans = no available parking + lots of frustration!) it was a nice trip.  Samuel enjoyed the big bed, Erin and I took the floor. ;)

When your Daring Child is also your Clumsy Child that child will invariably be your Injury-Prone Child.
