Our last few weeks…

Published March 22, 2007 by Erin

This week has been pretty calm so far.  Ethan has a bad cough and won’t eat, but what else is new (the no eating part).  The boys had their doctor apts. last week.  Ethan has moved up to the 24% in weight (go figure), he has always been in the 5% or lower since he was born.  And according to his height at 2 years, he is expected to be about 6′ when he gets older.  We’ll have a tall and skinny boy on our hands. :)

Lucas’ weight is very good, he’s 12 lbs.  He’s had some issues with feeding for the past month or so.  He would scream and fuss at many of his feedings.  I was getting a bit worried b/c I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with him.  Thought it might have been what I was eating so I cut out milk thinking he might have a milk allergy.  That didn’t help much.  The doctor thought it might be reflux so she prescribed some medicine for him.  I did some more research when I got home from the doctor and found some other things he might be dealing with and made some adjustments in his feedings and he is doing so much better!  I’m hoping it’s not reflux… I’ve cut back on his medicine and he seems to be doing much better so maybe he’s just outgrowing whatever it was.  ANYWAY!

Here are some pictures of the past few weeks:

Ethan’s buddy, Eban Magrum, came over for lunch and playtime … they had lots of fun. Eban let Ethan borrow a bunch of shoes he has outgrown and Ethan LOVES them!  He always wants to try on a new pair. :)

I went in to the other room to do something and when I came back, I found Ethan with this.  He’s getting tall enough to reach things on the counter now. :)

Love that last photo of Lucas, he is sooo cute. I hope he’s doing better with his reflux. :(

Jonah got his gift on Saturday, thank you! He loves it. The clock is on his dresser with pickle juice in it. LOL I’m going to have him send you guys an email.

    Miss you!

Samuel has a new room!!  Well, it’s a shared room, but at least he has a corner now!

I’m not sure our youngest, Samuel, is going to make it to his first birthday. I think our daughter is trying to get rid of him. I think she loves him, she talks to him and about him often. But she has also done things to make us think otherwise. When he is in his swing she likes to push it beyond what it was meant to go. She likes to poke his eyes. She threw his favorite pacifier into the garbage disposal (unknown to Erin until she ran it). She has picked him up and dropped him repeatedly (and tried to pick him up many other times). She has taken his blanket, covered his face with it and laid on him. She has put a marble, a pretzel, a piece of pizza, and other things into his mouth. I’m just not sure if Samuel is going to make it because his older sister is out to get him.

This is Ethan’s way of saying this room is off limits for Alayna. Now every door in our house, even Alayna’s own room, has this sign. Even the outside doors. It’s Alayna’s catch 22 - can’t go in, can’t go out.

We went to the Midwest Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati a couple weeks ago.  It was crowded!! Besides the fact that they scheduled the conference to begin at the exact same time as opening day for the Cincinnati Reds (~10,000 convention goers + ~40,000 baseball fans = no available parking + lots of frustration!) it was a nice trip.  Samuel enjoyed the big bed, Erin and I took the floor. ;)
