Our Week Out West

July 31, 2007 (1:54 pm) by ekvile

We had a great week in Colorado! It was a fun adventure and the boys did great for the 20 hour car ride. Next time we want to bring Kevin along though. :) We sure missed him and Ethan talked to him everyday. He would often say “talk to daddy” and we’d pick up the phone can give him a call. Kevin got lots of school work done while we were gone so that’s good.

While we were there, Ryan and Heidi took us on a 3.6 mile hike in Estes Park. Ethan hiked a little over a mile down the mountain… he loved it. Lucas loved riding on my back and Noah hiked the whole thing! He did great and earned his first Rocky Mountain National Park patch! Good job Noah!

We also went to the Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming. We watched an air show in the morning and then hit the Rodeo in the afternoon.

The kids had lots of fun just playing around the house. Ethan fell in love with Noah’s tricycle and learned how to stay clear of Noah’s “hugs” :) All in all, we had a great visit and we look forward to being together again at Christmas.

Love you guys and miss you already!

Colorado Bound

July 22, 2007 (11:27 pm) by Erin

Earlier this week my mom and I decided to take an adventure and make the 20 hour drive to Colorado to visit my brother and his family. We had to leave Kevin home as he still has classes and can’t take off much work. This will be the longest we’ll all be away from him. … We sure do miss him and Ethan can’t go to sleep at night until he talks to Daddy and has him pray with him over the phone. (too cute!)… We love you, hun, and miss you so much!!!

We packed the van and took off Thursday morning hopeing to make it to Omaha, NE and crash there for the night. The boys did amazing in the car. Ethan loved looking out the window, reading his books and playing with cars. And Lucas only cried when he was ready to eat! We took our time and made it to Omaha with enough time to take a short swim in the hotel pool before bedtime. We crashed and then Friday was 8 hours of flat, straight driving through exciting Nebraska. :) We finally made it to CO in time for dinner.

We were greeted with great big hugs from Noah and Ethan was finally able to see his cousin he’s been talking about all week!

Here’s some pictures of our drive as well as some play time around the house:

Sweet Boy

July 18, 2007 (1:38 pm) by Erin

We are so blessed to have such a sweet little boy in Ethan.  God really has special plans for him I just know it.  It’s awesome to begin to see what a tender heart this little guy has and I’ve seen it many times in everyday situations.  One, for example, was yesterday.  We were all (Ethan, Lucas and me) playing in the playroom when Ethan left the room.  A few minutes later he returned with an arm full of things…. he brought a toy for Lucas to play with, his blanket, Lucas’ blanket and a marker for me.  He gave the toy and blanket to Lucas… “Here ya go, Moocas” and gave me the marker… “Mommy’s marker” and then he proceeded to play with what he brought for himself.  This may not seem like a big deal but I thought it was not only so cute but very thoughtful for a 2 1/2 year old.  I have witnessed many times when Ethan doesn’t only think of himself in situations but will consider what Lucas wants too.  :) What a cutie!

Here’s Ethan playing with Lucas trying to make him laugh… it doesn’t take much… Lucas LOVES Ethan!

Fireworks

July 10, 2007 (12:50 pm) by Erin

This year we got to see 2 firework shows two nights in a row… Ethan thought it was the beginning of a regular routine at night.  We would eat dinner and then pop some popcorn and go see fireworks.  He would wake up in the morning and say “mama, papa, popcorn, fireworks?”  We watched the fireworks both nights with grandma and grandpa. :)  He was very upset when we told him fireworks were all gone for this year.   He really enjoyed them… and Lucas slept right through them. :)

First Haircut

 (7:50 am) by Erin

Lucas got his first haircut about a month ago… I just forgot to post some pics.  I would have never thought I would have to cut my boys hair before he was a year old but Lucas has been blessed with lots of it!  But also he has lots of colics all over his head making his lovely hair stick up in every direction.  Needless to say his hair was a bit out of control, so at 6 months old, we took some siccors to it.  … much better. :)

Zoo AGAIN!

July 9, 2007 (1:07 pm) by Erin

So we bought a membership to the Zoo and visited 2x in one week. :) It was fun!

Kris, Kevin’s childhood friend, and his girlfriend, Heather came down for a visit so we took them to our Zoo. They actually came down to visit so Kris could pick up a RING that he had shipped to our house. Little did Heather know what was coming soon. Although we weren’t here to witness the big question, Kris called us the next day to report that she said YES! :) We’re so excited for them! They are great together and we have so much fun hanging out with them! Congrats guys… we love you!!!
