After a long day of playing/dealing with 2 boys (one of which requires almost all my attention and is very trying at times - LUCAS!), one my favorite moments of the day is right after I feed Lucas before bedtime, he falls asleep eating and then as I go to lay him in his bed he rests his head on my shoulder and just sleeps oh so soundly.  It’s the best feeling and I make extra time to just sit and rock and enjoy the moment!  If you’re a parent, you know, as kids grow, the times to hold them while sleeping is very few and far between, if at all.  So I treasure any moment I get to cuddle with my babies b/c I know soon it will probably be gone.

Ethan is such a little helper!  He loves to help us with anything we are doing.  When I’m cooking in the kitchen he wants to pull out his stool and help me with dinner, when Kevin’s working outside, he wants to get his tools and gloves and help daddy.  When PawPaw’s in the garden he wants to help him pick “tutumbers”.  Grandma was able to capture a few of these precious moments of our little helper:

Kevin’s been dreaming up his ideal shed for our back yard all summer.  He wanted to get started on it before he had to go back to school for the fall.  We had 2 weekends lined up for him to work on it… one we had torrential downpours so he couldn’t get much done so that left this weekend to get things started and hopefully done before our landscaping crew came to install our backyard… Here is what Kevin has been working on non-stop since Saturday morning (he even took Monday off work to get more done).

Our good friend Jens came over to help all day on Saturday and some Sunday afternoon!!  Thanks for all you help Jens!!

He ended up finishing all the siding and some of the trim on Monday.  Next weekend he’ll shingle the roof and hopefully we’ll be able to paint it. (Any suggestions on what to paint it?  Our house is white with green shutters and a green roof… what do you think about a green roof, light beige siding and white trim???)

Ethan was a big helper too (I’ll have more pictures of him later - had to get out the SLR for some better shots).

Pray for nice weather this coming weekend so we can get it all done.

Just wanted to post some everyday updates on our boys. As of last week (while we were in Colorado), Lucas cut his first tooth. And now he’s got another one coming in. He’s a month ahead of Ethan on that one. He also started rolling over a few weeks ago. He has fun lying on the floor rolling from one toy to the next. I guess sitting will be next.

Ethan is also talking so much more now. We still have to interpret to strangers but he’s using pretty long sentences and talking about all kinds of things. He says “Please” and “Thank you” without being told to do so most of the time. And it’s so cute… when Lucas or anyone sneezes, he says “Bless you”. hehe. He can also count to 10 and he sings “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” and his ABC’s (with just a little help).

Our little boys are growing up so fast. Every stage is so fun!

Yesterday I drew a smiley face on Ethan’s hand and one on mine… he was so proud of his smiley face and walked around with his hand out saying “smiley face”… I knew this would come back to bite me sooner or later. After play time this morning, I was feeding Lucas and Ethan came out of the office with a big smile on his face and said “Look mom”… he was so proud of his artwork!
