Thanksgiving Weekend
November 26, 2007 (8:06 pm) by ErinWe spent this Thanksgiving in Detroit with Kevin’s family. It was a little different b/c Kevin’s sister’s family didn’t come (we missed you guys)… Ethan didn’t know what to do without his cousins to play with. But it was still a very nice visit. Kevin’s aunt and uncle from GA were in town so that was great to be able to visit with them! Ethan took a special liking to his second cousin, Andrew.
Lucas enjoyed his first Thanksgiving dinner and Ethan could have cared less…. someday he’ll love it.
We came home on Friday to celebrate my Mom’s birthday at a local restaurant. And on Saturday we got most of our Christmas decorations up…. despite both Kevin and me feeling a bit under the weather. All in all it was a great weekend spent with family.

I was having a little fun with Ethan’s hair.

Ethan’s Christmas Tree Conversation
November 25, 2007 (8:29 pm) by ErinAfter Ethan’s nightly story (read by Dad) and drink of milk he headed off to say good night to mommy who was feeding Lucas. On his way he passed our newly decorated Christmas tree. Here is the conversation that followed:
Ethan: “Bye-bye Christmas tree.” (short pause) “Good night Christmas tree.” (long pause and moving closer to the Christmas tree) “Christmas tree’s don’t talk.”
Dad: “No, you’re right, they don’t talk.”
Ethan: “It needs batteries.”
Ah, the mind of a two year old! What fun it is to be parents of such a wonderful and creative child!

Chumley’s Visit
November 19, 2007 (1:59 pm) by ErinWe had the pleasure of having the Chumley family come visit us this past week. What a treat! Josh and Jo are friends from college… Jo and I spent a semester in Cambridge, England together and we were in each others weddings. They live in Arizona now so we don’t get to see each other much. Last time we saw each other was at our wedding almost 5 years ago!!! Way too long! They have family in TN so they took a little detour and flew to Detroit to visit some friends in Michigan and then us for a few days and then off to TN for Thanksgiving. Do we feel special or what.
They have 2 adorable little boys, Jack & Jonas. Jack and Ethan are only a month apart so they had a great time playing together. Jonas is 18 months and just loved to explore everything… soon Lucas will be the same way. It was so nice to visit, catch up and live life together for a few days. Our daily routines are about the same…. kids, kids, kids.
Kevin had a work retreat he had to be at Wednesday - Friday so he wasn’t home to visit until Friday night. Jo and I did get to have a little girls night out on Thursday though… after we put the kids to bed, Josh stayed home while we could go out… another nice treat.
Friday night we went to the Toledo Zoo’s Lights Before Christmas, which the kids really enjoyed. Saturday was a Holiday Parade downtown Bowling Green and then the BIG OSU vs. Michigan game… GO BUCKS!
It was a cold couple of days so they got their taste of Ohio cold weather and I’m sure that was enough for them. It was a very nice visit and hopefully it won’t be another 5 years before we see each other again! Thanks for coming out guys! We love you!

Lots of Leaves!
November 6, 2007 (9:38 am) by ErinWe have lots of leaves in our back yard! And most of the trees aren’t even bare yet! Having kids to play in the leaves make raking them much more enjoyable. Ethan has had a great time running and jumping in the piles and throwing them all over the place. Lucas, on the other hand, is deathly afraid of them! I plopped him in the big pile, he was ok for about 30 seconds, Ethan started throwing leaves at him and it was all over! He screams his head off if a leaf even comes close to him. Poor kid.
