Christmas in Ohio »

So Much to Post!

What an amazing season of many celebrations! I’ll have to break it up in a couple posts at least.

I had so much fun getting ready for the Holiday’s this year. It was so much easier to do things not being 9 months pregnant. :) And it gets more and more fun the older Ethan gets… the more he understands and the more family traditions we can start. This year was the first year we did Advent… it was actually the first time Kevin and I have ever done it, as neither of us did it as kids. It will definitely stay a great family tradition in our house. I loved, not only the family time together but what a great time of sharing Christ together and remembering the true meaning of the season. And as the boys get older we can add lots more great activities.

The weekend before Christmas we went to Detroit to celebrate Christmas with Kevin’s family. It was such a nice visit with everyone (as usual). I think my favorite part was singing Christmas carols together while Dad Vile played the piano. Great memories and I know Ethan loved it too! (he loves to sing). We played games, which is always interesting and fun with Kevin’s siblings. :) On Sunday afternoon, Kevin’s dad pulled down the old slide projector and slides and we watched family pictures and reminisced about Christmas’ growing up (well, they reminisced, while I listened and learned more about my family :) ) It was fun to see pictures of Kevin and his brother and sister and compare who Ethan and Lucas look like.

We had a great visit and it’s hard to believe Christmas is already over. Here are some pictures of our weekend in Michigan.

Samuel has a new room!!  Well, it’s a shared room, but at least he has a corner now!

I’m not sure our youngest, Samuel, is going to make it to his first birthday. I think our daughter is trying to get rid of him. I think she loves him, she talks to him and about him often. But she has also done things to make us think otherwise. When he is in his swing she likes to push it beyond what it was meant to go. She likes to poke his eyes. She threw his favorite pacifier into the garbage disposal (unknown to Erin until she ran it). She has picked him up and dropped him repeatedly (and tried to pick him up many other times). She has taken his blanket, covered his face with it and laid on him. She has put a marble, a pretzel, a piece of pizza, and other things into his mouth. I’m just not sure if Samuel is going to make it because his older sister is out to get him.

This is Ethan’s way of saying this room is off limits for Alayna. Now every door in our house, even Alayna’s own room, has this sign. Even the outside doors. It’s Alayna’s catch 22 - can’t go in, can’t go out.

We went to the Midwest Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati a couple weeks ago.  It was crowded!! Besides the fact that they scheduled the conference to begin at the exact same time as opening day for the Cincinnati Reds (~10,000 convention goers + ~40,000 baseball fans = no available parking + lots of frustration!) it was a nice trip.  Samuel enjoyed the big bed, Erin and I took the floor. ;)

When your Daring Child is also your Clumsy Child that child will invariably be your Injury-Prone Child.
