In Full Swing…

Published July 23, 2008 by Erin

Actually… summer is more than in full swing… it’s almost over… :( tear. But we have been trying to enjoy every moment of it! Playing in the kiddy pool, going to the park, enjoying ice cream runs, and most recently bike rides… lots of them!!! Kevin finally got his old bike from his parents house, got it working and we bought a bike trailer for my bike for the kiddos. It’s been a blast riding all over Bowling Green. Getting some exercise but more importantly saving a few bucks in GAS!!!! I try to do as many errands as I can on the bike and so far have only used the car about once a week to do the big grocery shopping. It’s great… I feel so frugal. The kids like it too. We go to the bank drive through line to make our church weekly deposit and the boys love getting suckers. I never asked for them before when we were in the car… but now they know the bank gives out candy! :) We ride to Bible Study on Wednesday’s and the park a couple times a week. Tonight we all rode to the park for a picnic and the Library was doing a program on bugs which made it an extra special night complete with ice cream. On our way home, we stopped at DQ for some ice cream with our dear friends the Core’s. We are just loving the warm, summer weather and hope it lasts well in to the fall!

These are really cute. Dustin and I just bought bikes and a toddler seat for the back. It has come in handy and we are really enjoying them. Josiah has a little bike with training wheels. He is so cute on it.

I would really enjoy seeing an update on the room your husband worked on and on your newly painted chair and cabinet whenever they are done. I really enjoy seeing people redecorate and enjoy before and afters. I know, I’m a dork, but I love HGTV redecorating shows.

Samuel has a new room!!  Well, it’s a shared room, but at least he has a corner now!

I’m not sure our youngest, Samuel, is going to make it to his first birthday. I think our daughter is trying to get rid of him. I think she loves him, she talks to him and about him often. But she has also done things to make us think otherwise. When he is in his swing she likes to push it beyond what it was meant to go. She likes to poke his eyes. She threw his favorite pacifier into the garbage disposal (unknown to Erin until she ran it). She has picked him up and dropped him repeatedly (and tried to pick him up many other times). She has taken his blanket, covered his face with it and laid on him. She has put a marble, a pretzel, a piece of pizza, and other things into his mouth. I’m just not sure if Samuel is going to make it because his older sister is out to get him.

This is Ethan’s way of saying this room is off limits for Alayna. Now every door in our house, even Alayna’s own room, has this sign. Even the outside doors. It’s Alayna’s catch 22 - can’t go in, can’t go out.

We went to the Midwest Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati a couple weeks ago.  It was crowded!! Besides the fact that they scheduled the conference to begin at the exact same time as opening day for the Cincinnati Reds (~10,000 convention goers + ~40,000 baseball fans = no available parking + lots of frustration!) it was a nice trip.  Samuel enjoyed the big bed, Erin and I took the floor. ;)
