Our Sweet Baby…

GIRL!!!

Ethan was right… it’s gonna be a girl. :)

baby girl

What an exciting day! We didn’t find out what we were having with the boys so we weren’t sure how “special” it would be to find out the gender of our baby on a screen in a small doctors office… but it was tons of fun! Ethan and my mom came with us… Kevin and I went in first just to make sure baby was alright. The technician did all her measurements, showed us all the baby’s limbs, heartbeat, etc. And then asked us if we knew what we would do with a girl since we had 2 boys… “NO, I don’t know what I would do with a girl!” “Well, you have a few more months to figure it out.” :) REALLY??? We’re having a girl? I kept thinking we were having a girl but I couldn’t distinguish if it was just what I wanted or if I really had the “intuition”. After we found out, Kevin went to get Mom and Ethan to bring them in. Ethan was so excited to see all the equipment and was more interested in the ultrasound wand the tech was using on my stomach than the picture of the baby! He was so cute though, all smiles. We asked him what we were having and he said … “A girl”. “You were right all along Ethan, you’re gonna have a sister” Too bad we always forget the camera to get these priceless moments on video. And of course Mom was thrilled too!
I loved being surprised at delivery with the boys but it’s tons of fun finding out half way through your pregnancy too. We are keeping one thing a surprise till the birth… the name. So don’t ask. ;)
Thanks for all your congrats and excitement. Of course we’d be just as excited if we were having another boy! God is good and has blessed us so much.

Samuel has a new room!!  Well, it’s a shared room, but at least he has a corner now!

I’m not sure our youngest, Samuel, is going to make it to his first birthday. I think our daughter is trying to get rid of him. I think she loves him, she talks to him and about him often. But she has also done things to make us think otherwise. When he is in his swing she likes to push it beyond what it was meant to go. She likes to poke his eyes. She threw his favorite pacifier into the garbage disposal (unknown to Erin until she ran it). She has picked him up and dropped him repeatedly (and tried to pick him up many other times). She has taken his blanket, covered his face with it and laid on him. She has put a marble, a pretzel, a piece of pizza, and other things into his mouth. I’m just not sure if Samuel is going to make it because his older sister is out to get him.

This is Ethan’s way of saying this room is off limits for Alayna. Now every door in our house, even Alayna’s own room, has this sign. Even the outside doors. It’s Alayna’s catch 22 - can’t go in, can’t go out.

We went to the Midwest Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati a couple weeks ago.  It was crowded!! Besides the fact that they scheduled the conference to begin at the exact same time as opening day for the Cincinnati Reds (~10,000 convention goers + ~40,000 baseball fans = no available parking + lots of frustration!) it was a nice trip.  Samuel enjoyed the big bed, Erin and I took the floor. ;)
