Been making a few bags lately… and until I uploaded all these pictures, I didn’t realize I had been working with the same fabric on each one. Eh, oh well, I guess I love the fabric.

I’ve finally organized my corner of the house… it’s my sewing / workout corner all in one. I love my little corner of the house but it needs some color. This is where you come in… yes, all you people who read our blog but never show your face, or in blog world, never leave a comment. I’m asking for your help. I want to paint the cabinet in the corner and I want to paint my sewing chair… any suggestions as to what color??? I’m up for some daring and fun colors. So what do you think? Help me out here. Thanks! (and yes, I know I need a little artwork on the walls and maybe even some window treatments… working on that too but that’s another post )

Birthday / Anniversary Weekend

This past weekend we celebrated my 31st birthday and our 5th anniversary by going to Columbus to see Stomp! What a fun weekend away together! We got to Columbus, checked into our hotel and headed over to Easton Mall for dinner. Good thing we’re used to eating at 5:00 (thanks to kids) b/c we were able to get right in to the Cheesecake Factory with no wait. We had a yummy dinner (and took some cheesecake to go) and had time to browse around Easton before heading downtown for the show.
Stomp was fabulous and we had such a fun time!
On Saturday we headed back downtown to check out the North Market. Yum… the smell when we walked inside was amazing. Fresh bread baking, yummy cookies and wonderful smells from Italian booths to Mediterranean foods. It was fun to walk around enjoying the atmosphere … but a bit odd not having to worry about strollers, and do we have snacks and sippys for the boys, etc. … odd, but nice. After the North Market we drove up to the OSU campus to check it out. We walked around the football stadium and enjoyed the sunshine.

My New Hobby

Like I really have time for a new hobby… but this is something I’ve always wanted to do and I’m so excited about it I just want to keep going. My mom came to me one day with an idea to make bags out of all the scraps of material she has from her interior design business. Well as we talked and researched bag designs and other things we could make, her idea kept getting bigger and bigger. We found some super cute patterns of bags online as well as some great fabric by Amy Butler … and we were inspired. We purchased a bunch of patterns and I went to the fabric store for some cheap fabric just so I could start practicing … since our idea had turned into building a business!

Well, here’s the first one… my first ever sewing project. I didn’t think it was too bad for my first one. I still need lots of practice but it’s a start. Now I need to find a sewing machine (since I’ve been traveling to Perrysburg, my mom’s house, to use hers). If you have one that you want to sell, I’d be happy to take it off your hands.
