Reading

Reading, reading, reading… that is what I am doing now-a-days and when I am done reading, I read some more. Not that I’m complaining, I enjoy reading very much, but there is just so much to read and so little time to do it. Let alone the fact that there are so many books I want to read that are not for class that I just don’t have the time to get to.

Well I am definately enjoying my hermeneutics class. We are discussing interpretation, both how to interpret, the philosophy behind the methodologies, and the history of interpretation throughout Christianity. It is very informative to learn about the depth behind the methods, and the variety and development of biblical interpretation throughout the last 2000 years. The books we are reading are:

1. First Theology: God, Scripture & Hermeneutics, Kevin Vanhoozer (Read My Summary)
2. Biblical Interpretation: Past & Present, Gerald Bray (Read My Summary)
3. Grasping God’s Words: A Hands-On Approach to Reading, Interpreting, and Applying the Bible, J. Scott Duvall (Read my Summary)

Hey Kev
You want to “interpret what you just said!?! :O)
Just don’t go to sleep when you read, remember doing that at home? Erin will have to send Ethan into your study every now and then to make sure you aren’t! I think its great that you are going to school and we know that you will do superbly!
You get ALL the good stuff from your old Mom! :O) HA!
Love & Hugs,
Mom
